Spring Onion and Parsley Loaf

A white bread with the added flavour of spring onions and parsley, try serving with a bowl of tomato soup

  1. Mix the Flour, salt, sugar, yeast, butter and water into a dough. Knead for 8-10 minutes. Prove in a warm place for 1 ½ hours.
  2. Knock back and knead in the spring onions and parsley. Form into two bread tins. Prove again for 1 hour.
  3. Preheat oven to 200° conventional, 180°C fan, gas 6. Bake the loaves for 30-35 minutes, glazing by brushing with the egg about half way through the cooking time.

  • 900g White Bread Flour
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tsp of sugar
  • 25g butter
  • 550ml warm water
  • 1 ½ Packets Hovis Bread Yeast
  • 1 bunch spring onions, finely sliced
  • Large handful fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
